“Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't.” - Bill Nye
On June 8, 2022, students in Bioprocess Technology from the FHNW School of Life Sciences and the University of Palermo had the opportunity to visit bioprocessing labs at the ZHAW Institute for Chemistry and Biotechnology.
We got an inside look into digitalisation of bioprocesses and analytical technology; biochemical engineering; cell cultivation techniques in wave and reactor bags for mammalian cells; and the fascinating world of plant cell culture. The visit got especially sweet when we observed the production of ZHAW’s famous cell culture chocolate!
Students had the chance to exchange ideas on the latest methods, equipment and approaches and form new connections and friendships. Project ideas combining the two organizations strengths in upstream and downstream processing were discussed.
A big thank you to Thomas Villiger, Regine Eibl, Dieter Eibl, Lukas Neutsch for organizing the visit and to ZHAW for hosting. It was a great example of how Biotechnet’s platforms Training for Pharma/Biotech and Single Use Technology help to bring people together. FHNW looks forward to hosting ZHAW for the next edition of student bioprocess visits.
