The Biotechnet Summer School on Advanced Biotechnology is celebrating its 20th birthday! The 2026 edition will be hosted by the HES-SO Institute of Life Sciences in Sion, Switzerland, from August 31 to September 3, 2026.
Alternating locations between Switzerland, Italy and Austira, the summer school provides students with introductory presentations on key topics and application challenges of biotechnology, such as environmental biotech, energy, drug development and delivery, biopharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and analytics. Professors and researchers from Biotechnet-affiliated universities FHNW, ZHAW, HES-SO, MCI Innsbruck, University of Palermo, and others give short lectures on these topics.
In addition, students will form international teams and work in groups to pitch a research project or start-up company. The event provides many occasions for networking with professors, researchers and students in an informal setting.
Sion is a charming city nestled in the Alps, known for its beautiful hiking and delicious wines. A social program will allow participants to discover the region and make connections.
