Our expertise and offerings
The Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA) of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) conducts research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and biomedical science, with the goal of supporting personalised, predictive, and preventive medicine.
Activities span different application domains:
- personalised and predictive medicine, with models developed from clinical and OMICS data to support risk prediction and clinical decision-making
- natural language processing for healthcare, covering scientific literature, clinical reports, and health-related social media, with applications in pharmacovigilance and automated clinical documentation
- computer vision and biomedical imaging applied to image classification, segmentation, and automatic feature extraction for radiomics and diagnostics
- computational biology to investigate protein folding, protein–protein interactions, and drug–target binding, supporting early-stage pharmaceutical drug design
