Biotechnet and the University of Palermo were pleased to welcome about 130 students and professors to Palermo for the 19th edition of the Summer School on Advanced Biotechnology.
Held from September 1 to 4, 2025, the event brought together students and lecturers from the University of Palermo, ZHAW Institute for Chemistry and Biotechnology, the FHNW School of Life Sciences, the HES-SO Institute for Life Technologies and MCI the Entrepreneurial School, ETH Zürich D-BSSE, the University of Cincinnati, ISMETT, Biotech Concepts, STERA Scientific AG, Lonza, the University of Freiburg, and Italbiotech.
Highlights included:
- About 30 talks on a broad range of biotech topics spanning health, food, energy and environment
- 5 presentations from industry
- 10 student pitches on either a research project or a biotech company. Congratulations to teams 1, 9 and 10 for their winning presentations - they were awareded Palermo baseball caps!
Thank you to Vincenzo Cavalieri and Giuseppe Gallo for leading the organizing the 2025 edition, supported by a strong team of volunteer students from the University of Palermo that made all participants feel warmly welcome.
Co-organizers Simon Crelier, Patrick Shahgaldian, Jack Rohrer and Christof Griesbeck coordinated the lectures and students from each of their schools.
